ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT speaks through music to the world.
Grammy winner Speech, one of the main vocalists for this collective, said "our people have been through so much turmoil and strife for hundreds of years now. We get on stage every night with the mission to broaden the perspectives and give inspiration to rise above the stereotypes and materialism." Unsurprisingly, this Grammy award winning group has devoted themselves to nudging folks in the direction of freedom and spiritual evolution for almost 25 years. The group describes their sound as "life music" about consciousness, the earth, African self determination, and love.
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT's debut album 3 years, 5 months and 2 days in the life of captured the journey from the group's formation and the signing of their first record deal. Their 1992 single "Tennessee" won the group their first Grammy and MTV Video Music Award. The band's biggest hit, "Mr. Wendal," was made in an effort to humanize the "bums" on our streets, and the band donated half of the song's royalties to the National Coalition for the Homeless.
