About

* Precursor: - It was the start of high school and a friend of mine, Ryan Laferney, was putting together a band and needed a bass player, so he recruited me and I took up the bass. The band consisted of Ryan L. (lead guitar and vox), Pete Pinkston (rhythm guitar), Ryan Andrews (drums), and myself. We were called "Crash and Fall,".... lame, I know. A few months later we disbanded due to creative differences and I started a solo project entitled "Fuck the Masses." * Beginnings: - Around the beginning of sophomore year my friend Brandie joined the "band" on the bass, leaving me free to do keys. We started holding practices and shortly after adapted the name "the Crazed Ravens." A few practices later, my former band mate and long time friend Pete joined the band as our guitarist. Almost immediately after we enlisted the help of Ryan A. on the drums and like that we had a formidable band.... sort of. * Changes: - A few more practices later it seemed to us like Ryan wasn't too interested in being in the band anymore. Luckily, around that time we started hanging out with Alex Hendrix and he soon joined on as our new drummer and keyboardist as well. (We remained friends with Ryan A. and he stayed on to do album art.) Weeks later Doris Andrews, Ryan's little sister, became a part time member as guitarist, bassist, and vocalist. The end of junior year Brandie and me had a falling out. This led Alex and me, atfter considering a few other choices, to recruit Renee Reck (Ryan's girlfriend at the time) as replacement bassist and keyboardist. This new lineup was only temporary and very shortly after the band became primarily a duo, consisting of Alex and me. We took up the name "Hardware," but found out it was already in use, eventually we agreed on "Transcendent" after seeing it in the dictionary. * Back: - Fast forward a few months.... by the end of senior year we remained primarily a duo; Brandie did return to do album art though. A few more months later I began working as basically a solo act again, with the occasional help of past collaborators, as well as a few new ones; my father, Fred Brown (guitar, amongst other things), my nephew, Aidan "Crash" Haggard (drums), and my niece, Alyssa Haggard (vox and keyboard). It was around this time I took up the name "Lusid," which has stuck since. *Forth: - By the summer of 07, almost a year after high school, I began working on the album "Speechless," using a demo version of Reason (a music recording program). By the fall I had a full version of Reason and started composing material for what would become "Efflorescence." The following summer, of 08, brought to light the project "Scenic." While working on this album my CPU crashed and I lost a lot of the song files and had to abandon it. With no CPU I was limited, but I ended up writing about a half dozen pieces on piano the following fall; these pieces became the framework for "Cudn't B Better-p. (At this time I began studying music at Forest Park C. C. as well.) Towards the end of the year my dad and me played a set of my music for an art show at Cummel's Cafe. By the new year I regained use of my computer and got back to recording in a Reason 4 demo. Months after that I played at a honors ceremony at Forest Park C. C. The summer of 09, and prior to, I composed songs for a second "Efflorescence," album; after gaining a full version of Reason 4. (This page was created sometime in July, 2009.) That October my dad and me played at a benefit/ celebration for the Day of the Dead at Mokabee's coffee house. In the months that followed I composed pieces to accompany pictures I took in Mexico the previous summer. After winter passed, spring came. It was the end of my second year of college and that was when I wrote the pieces for "Variations of a Theme in A Minor," as a honors project in my music theory class. That brings us to the present; summer 2010 is drawing to a close and I am preparing for a third semester of music theory. *Present: ....
