Matt Espy is an American drummer and percussionist born in Dayton, Ohio who later relocated to Chicago. He has played with groups including Dead Rider, Atombombpocketknife, Duke Special and The Mountain Goats. In 2023 he issued his first solo release, Hawksworth (May 19, 2023, Drag City), a percussion-and-electronics record built around field recordings and experimental approaches to rhythm.
