For 58 years, Tower of Power has defined the pinnacle of funk and soul, delivering window-rattling grooves and a raucous party spirit that truly soothes the soul. Their seminal 1970 release, East Bay Grease, defined their signature sound and landed them a deal with Warner Brothers, leading to the 1972 hit album Bump City, which climbed both the Billboard 200 and R&B charts with classics like “You’re Still A Young Man” and “Down to The Nightclub.” The 1970's proved to be a massive boom period for the band, producing timeless radio staples such as “So Very Hard to Go” and “What Is Hip?,” and they have continued to tour and record relentlessly in the decades since. By masterfully blending soul, funk, jazz and rock into a singular genre that defies traditional categorization, Tower of Power has maintained a half-century of excellence—proving that while their iconic recordings are essential, the only thing that sounds better than a Tower of Power album is the high-octane energy of their live show.
