About
Connecting Appalachian Mountaintops to Asian & African roots
We welcome you to Lemon on June 14th to join us for “kudzu ch. 1”.
“kudzu” is a pop-up experience to tell the story & connections that Appalachia shares with various parts of the world with a focus on the intertwined histories of both Africa & Asia. Through cocktails, coffee, and tea, we will be doing a coursed experience with pairings to help tell stories of interwoven connection that lies atop those ancient mountains.
“kudzu ch. 1” is being hosted by Lemon on June 14th at 1600 W Grand Ave. This is presented by Javen McKenzie, a bartender at Lemon.
There will be two seatings at 1:00 p.m. & at 3:30 p.m so please select your time slot corresponding to your ticket.
“The story is being told by myself, a biracial queer Appalachian, to help humanize and connect others to Appalachia. These ancient mountains have been my family’s home for over 200 years, and I am honored to present “kudzu” as a love letter to my culture and the parts that connect it to the other sides of the world.” -- Javen McKenzie
*We are able to provide a nonspirited/ NA experience as well. With any requests for modified service (NA, Allergies, etc.)* please reach out to Javen at mckenziejaven@gmail.com.
We'll see you in the garden!
