This presentation is perfect for those wanting to learn more about the fabulous world of fungi and how to forage wild edible mushrooms safely and legally in Illinois. We’ll cover mushroom basics and you’ll also learn about mushrooms throughout the seasons, where to find them, identifying characteristics, lookalikes, and how to keep an eye out for common local edibles. By the end of this presentation you'll have tools to help you I.D. several different edible fungal species and a basic understanding of our region’s mushroom terrain! Presented by Illinois Mycological Association’s President, Photographer, and Isle Royale National Park fungal survey scientist, Liz Weinstein.
