This is a partially seated, partially standing room only event. First come, first served. If you need a reserved space for ADA requests, please contact the venue.

Tonight, literature, music, and storytelling move together. Dandelions After Dark is the official launch of Deangelo and the Dandelion, a children’s book rooted in self-worth, softness, and resilience on Chicago’s West Side, written by Roy Kinsey, founder of Rapbrary.

This three-part experience unfolds across sound, screen, and stage:

The evening begins with the OTV Atlas showcase of Rapbrarian: Reading Came First, a documentary exploring the intersections of hip-hop, literacy, and community.

Throughout the night, guests can experience original artwork from Deangelo and the Dandelion, expanding the story beyond the page and into visual form.

Soundtracking the night is DJ Ryan Sinclaire. As part of Pride season and the official kickoff to the BOOK/CLUB series, this event centers Black expression, softness, resilience, and the power of story, on the page, on the screen, and on the dance floor.

Books, merch, and special edition items will be available on site.

This is not just a book launch.

This is not just a show.

This is BOOK/CLUB, where the library meets the party.
