About

Make Music Chicago is a free, citywide music festival held annually on June 21, activating parks, plazas, porches, sidewalks, and neighborhood spaces across Chicago. Presented by Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, the event transforms the city into an open stage, featuring hundreds of performances by professional musicians, students, community ensembles, and amateur artists representing diverse genres and cultural traditions. Unlike a typical music festival, Make Music Chicago is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician—young and old, amateur and professional—is welcome to share music of all genres with friends, neighbors and strangers. Anyone can perform, host, or attend at no cost. Its purpose is to remove barriers to arts participation, celebrate Chicago’s cultural richness, and strengthen neighborhood connections through shared creative experiences.
