Located only 1-2 hours away from Chicago (depending on your location), the band shell at Alpine is freestanding, which means that you don't have to deal with big ugly pole obstructions, no matter how deep in the lawn you sit. The absence of a tin roof eliminates resonating bass problems, and, because the theater isn't sitting in the middle of a large city, parking and traffic problems are nearly eliminated. If you are in the lawn, be sure to take blankets (one to sit on and one to put on top of you if it gets cold at night) and bring ponchos in case it rains (umbrellas are not allowed). As usual, don't bring coolers, bottles, recording devices, guns, etc. into the venue.
